When my parents got married, being the good feminist of her age, my mother kept her maiden name Sablosky (which also became my middle name, thanks for not hyphenating Mom and Dad!). It caused a few interesting incidents, like when I was born the flowers sent by my grandother to Mrs. Rockower were returned from the hospital because there was no patient by that name.
Ann Blackman has an interesting op-ed on the problems she has encountered post-Patriot Act over the system's inability to deal with people with multiple names. Can you blame Ann for keeping her last name? Who wants to be a putzel?
PS: The interesting thing is that the graphic in the article is for Mrs. Woodsmith. My friend Ms. Celia Woodsmith, who is the lead singer of Della Mae, is actually Woods-Smith but she uses Woodsmith professionally. The graphic was a little too apt, and even more so as she recently got engaged.
