A Tale of Two Syrians

My friend Dr. Bradley Bolen has an amazing blog on the two Syrian refugees/ AV scholarships, Amjad and Andrey, coming to study music in Texas.  Dr. Bolen was instrumental in helping to arrange scholarships for them at Baylor University and McClennan Community College (for a program to feed into Baylor).  He has been a real hero and a real mensch in his efforts to support them.

We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.
-Winston Churchill

An oft-quoted sentiment on this fair blog.  While the students received their tuition and room covered, there is no funding for their basic living expenses while living in Texas.  They are coming to America essentially peniless.

While I don't have money to give to support the Andrey and Amjad, I am giving what I can in pro bono media assistance to try to get some press on these two Syrian refugees so that inshallah some donations will come in for their support.  I have faith in the big heart of Texans, and my fellow Americans, to help support these refugees in need.

If you, dear readers, care to support Andrey and Amjad, you can do so at the American Voices donation page.
